Why so many different products for odors?
The developers of ZeoCrystal products know that not all odors are alike and that one single product can't solve all odor problems. Through our research, we have developed a family of products that can help you deal with a wide variety of odor problems. It's simply a matter of selecting the right ZeoCrystal product for each particular odor source.
All of our products are 100% safe and non-toxic to humans, animals and plants. While we place the standard warning, "keep away from children" on the containers, even if accidentally swallowed, there is nothing toxic in any of our products. Rest assured, they are safe!
ZeoCrystal is the Trademark name for hi-performance odor elimination products containing the mineral called zeolite. ZeoCrystal uses only the purest, most virgin and highest quality zeolite found to date anywhere in the world.
Zeolite is a naturally occurring mineral known for it's adsorptive properties. As with diamonds and other minerals, zeolites vary in quality. Most zeolites are used for agriculture and industry. Farms use zeolite to enrich poor soils. The most common industrial use for zeolite is by refineries in converting crude oil into gasoline and other fuels.
Is ZeoCrystal the same as other zeolite products?
NO!! Agricultural and industrial zeolites are laden with many impurities such as clay and silt, which severely limits it's odor adsorptive capabilities. ZeoCrystal is the purest form of zeolite available. Although ZeoCrystal may be a bit more expensive than industrial grades of zeolite, we believe in providing the customer the best and longest lasting products possible. To be sure you are obtaining the highest quality zeolite, look for the genuine ZeoCrystal name.
What should I use, Crystals or Powder?
The crystals in Fridge-Fresh, Pet-Odor Magnets and Zeo Solar Crystal Bags are great for eliminating airborne odors. Think of the these as continual, passive air fresheners, but without the perfumes and chemicals found in other air freshening products. Zeo Odor-Eliminator Powder and Litter-Mate are terrific for removing odors from materials, like carpets, cat litter, floors, ashtrays, shoes, bedding etc. Since Zeo uses only high quality virgin zeolite, you can use much less of the product than other grades.
ZeoCrystal "odor sucking rocks" as radio personality Jonathan Brandmeier called them, have a huge interior surface that looks like honeycomb under a microscope. It has a natural negative ionic (electrical) charge. Most odor, gas and dust molecules have a positive ionic charge. Since opposites attract, the crystalline interior of the rock actually attracts and adsorbs these odor molecules and holds them tightly in place. They are held there until they are released by heat, for example, from exposure to the sun.
Didn't you misspell absorb as adsorb?
No. Absorption (with a B) is a mechanical process - for example, a dry sponge responding to water by expanding and holding the water. Adsorption (with a D) is the electrical process (ionic) of opposite electrical ions attracted to and clinging to each other.
How long will the Rock-style products last?
It depends upon your usage. For general household or pet use, if you desorb the crystals (expose them to the heat of the Sun) as directed, they will last many years. If used to deodorize areas contaminated with hydrocarbons such as gasoline or diesel fuels, desorption although still possible, can become somewhat difficult. In situations like this it's best just get a new bag.
How many products does ZeoCrystal have?
As great as our high-quality zeolite is, it cannot by itself, be all thing to all odors. To compliment our already outstanding product line, we have added several important liquid items (Zeo Fresh-Air Mist, Pet-Odor Control Liquid and Natural Odor Control Liquid.) which are designed to work synergistically with our rock products.
Odor is usually caused by decomposition. Two types of bacteria are present during decomposition, anaerobic (without oxygen) and aerobic (requiring oxygen) bacteria. Usually the anaerobic bacteria outnumbers the aerobic which is what we smell as an odor. These great liquids contain no bacteria but work by activating the aerobic bacteria already present, breaking down waste and crowding out the odor-causing anaerobic bacteria.
What odors are Pet-Odor Control and Natural-Odor Control liquids good for?
These are two concentrated liquid products, containing a special strain of Blue-Green Algae, that will break-down odors at their source. Unlike enzyme products, Pet-Odor & Natural Odor Control go to work after they dry. Enzymes are great, but when they dry, they die! For example, to keep an enzyme working on a carpet, the surface must be kept continually wet. Most carpet manufacturers will void their product warranty if water damaged, which could occur if you allow the carpet to remain wet for any extended period of time!
They can be used on just about any problem odors, including urine, pets, basements, "musties", trash cans, litter, bedding, smoke, cars, boats and boat live-wells to name just a few.
Although different products, Pet-Odor Control and Natural Odor Control may be freely substituted for each other, with Pet-Odor Control having just a slightly different formulation for eliminating pet urine odor.
Won't ZeoCrystal "odor sucking rock" products eliminate the odor by itself?
Absolutely! But sometimes, it's best to address the source of the odor as well. That's where the ZeoCrystal liquid products come into play.

General Tips on Eliminating Odors
Please read the How To Use information for specific techniques for using ZeoCrystal products. But generally speaking, the procedure for using ZeoCrystal products for eliminating odors is to:
- identify the odor source
- clean the area well as possible using a mild detergent and allow to dry.
- introduce the appropriate ZeoCrystal product
- be amazed as the odor disappears!
Remember, odors are sometimes like onions - they peel away layer by layer. Give ZeoCrystal some time to work. Many odors are accumulated over a period of time. It may take some time to completely remove them.
Do not use any other products along with ZeoCrystal unless they are made by ZeoCrystal. We have designed the whole Zeo product line to work together and to compliment each other. Other products you may have purchased elsewhere may contain chemical or perfume additives which could negatively impact the effectiveness of ZeoCrystal's all-natural product line.
